NSIS error when not installing?

I've been trying to figure this out for days and still have no idea what's going on. Hoping someone will be able to help.

I keep getting an "NSIS Error: Error launching installer" message at random times. When I actually want to install something (which I have been doing relatively frequently, as this is a recent build), installers run perfectly. The error appears when I am not installing anything, usually when I am running a game. (It has happened in Metro, Civ 5, and Tomb Raider, so not game-related, though it may be Steam-related as all are Steam titles.)

I've tried looking through the event viewer logs, and can find nothing relevant. Nothing strange in my task manager. The window that pops up merely has "NSIS Error" as its title, so thus far there is no telling what executable is even creating the message. I have tried system recoveries and even refreshing my Win8 install, and am still getting this error, though it did disappear for a few days after the refresh. Can anyone think of anything more I can do to try and resolve this or pinpoint the problem? Thanks!

Solution
Never mind - solved by using VistaSwitcher's "new exclusion" command (of all things) to identify the process generating the dialog - a Comodo Internet Security installer, as it happens. If anyone ever has this issue and stumbles onto this thread, that was my solution.
