have a msi z87 gd65 mb, I thought I enabled windows 8 features but on start up/restart I it is a t the efi shell with a device mapping table and "press ESC in 1 seconds to skip startup.nsh, any other key to continue. but ether way or leaving it only results in Shell> how can I get back to BIOS or run windows 8 which is installed and was working till I changed the setting in BIOS

Depending on the reason why you're at the shell, you can try typing "exit" to pass the shell and go to Windows. I think this can happen when you set up certain UEFI boot options and then move your hard drives around afterwards. The motherboard loses track of where it's supposed to boot from.
I have the same problem with a new MSI MB A58M-E35. Just booted up, get a brief second of the setup screen and then goes to this "Press ESC to skip STARTUP.NSH or any key to continue. No matter which option (including letting STARTUP.NSH run) all I get is the SHELL> _
I type in EXIT and it takes me to the setup screen. Set my existing HDD (with Win 10 on it) as #1 and my CD/DVD as #2 in the boot menu. Hit Save & Reboot and get the Shell v2.31 again.
MSI is telling me to reinstall Windows. I could if I could get past this annoying Shell v2.31
Now they're not answering my questions.
