Hey Guys,

I plan to build a new gaming PC for myself. I was looking for various components and reading reviews in different sites and I tried to come up with some configuration with my limited knowledge. I need your help to validate if I configuration I have chosen is Ok or I am going overboard and getting carried away.

My Need:-
1. Desktop PC which I can use to play games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, MS Flight simulator, Halo, Grand Theft Auto etc.
2. General Internet usage.
3. General office usage.
4. Watching videos, casually editing videos, burning DVDs etc.
5. Try out basic overclocking

Following components I have in mind:-
Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.5 GHZ
Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Asus Sabertooth Z87 LGA 1150 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card
Asus Xonar Essence STX 24-bit 192 KHz Sound Card
Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair Professional Gold 850W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
Asus VS238H-P 23.0" Monitor
Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555)

I need your expert advise to help me choosing right components for my PC.

Please help.

Thanks
James

Well first of all you only need 8 gigs of ram for gaming and a i5 4670k should be sufficient. I recommend buying a asus Maximus vi hero with the money you save from not buying the 16 gb ram and i7. The rig I'm going to build is very nice and is only $2200 it has SLI 770 an i5 gskill sniper ram and a corsair 650d case ill link it in another comment.

As much as people say 8gb of RAM is enough for most things, I reckon 16gb of RAM is the way to go. Then you wont have to worry about upgrading in the future

I agree, I currently have 8 GB on my computer and I max out when I run heavy applications. I would go for 16 GB at least.

Ok that makes sense. I thought that this was just a dedicated gaming PC but for video rendering and 3d design you would want 16 gb.
