Intel Core i7-870
Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI Ver. 5.x
G.SKILL F3-1333C9D-8GNS
ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5
1000 watt power Supplie
Had 2 EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti in sli mode and ran 3dmark11. Every thing ran fine till physx test came up. It run half way on the Physx test and it shut down my desktop. So i replaced the 2 GTX 560 Ti in sil mode with 1 ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5 and it still dose the same thing. I tried all the old and new drives for the 560 Ti and the same with the 770 too. The CPU is not getting hot it is at 40c when i turn it back on. Antec Kuhler H2O 620 Liquid Cooling System for the CPU. Outhere then that run's all my Games fine and 1 of my games crash but that happens with PC games.

do not know the brand but it is about 6 years old or more. It came with his alienware when he got it. The alienware came with core 2 duo 2.66 / Nvida 680i sli motherboard / 2x 8800 GT video cards / windows vista. top of the line then. I posted all that to give u a idea of the age of the power supply and i am helping a buddy out so i do not know off hand

i did test both 560 ti's one on my A8 -3870k cpu / Asus F1A55-M LX PLUS and on that old 2.66 core 2 duo / nvida 680i sli motherboard and it ran the 3dmark11 all went fine

so the physx test runs fine on a single 560ti (both of them work fine when used separately)
but the physx test fails when you run sli 560tis and when you try the 770?

Here is all what went down so u do not have to reread the post my buddy called me up and said my game is crashing so i ran 3dmark11 on it with the 560 ti's in sil turnd the desktop off. then i ran just the 1 560 ti (not in sil ) ran fine. so we was thinking one card died. so my buddy said the 560 ti's were 4 years old or more just fined a real good card but do not go over $400 so i found the 770 for $ 420 he said that was fine it came in in 4 days (got to love newegg) so i took out all the old drivers then the 560 ti cards. put in the 770 got all the drivers in and ran 3dmark11 and it turned off the desktop same as the 560 ti's. so my buddy asked me to test the 2 560 ti on my desk top so i did and they ran fine and i ran the 560 ti's in another desk top and the 2 560 ti ran 3dmark11 fine too. so that is were i am at. all that is left is change the power ($150 or so) or change the motherboard / cpu /ram/ ($700 or so) on top off the $420 for the 770 video card spent so far. so i said let me post what is going on with your desktop on Tomshardware i get grate feed back.

i really think the psu is at fault here but i dont want you to try running the chiefmax psu with the 770 neither with the 560tis in sli
i would personally fork out some money for a new psu if possible
if you really wanted to, you could also try the chiefmax with the sli 560tis

not to sound like a ass he can care less about the 560 at this point cause he just spent $420 on that 770 that would kill them 560 in sli any day all he cares is about is y his desktop is turning off when he runs 3dmark11 on the physx test with the 560 and the 770 hes is not trying to spend a lot of money on the guessing game that is y i posted this on here

u r not on the same page as i am. i tested both 560 ti's and they r fine. what i want too know and my buddy wants too know is y his desktop is turning off when he runs 3dmark11 in the physx test and he has
Intel Core i7-870
Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI Ver. 5.x
G.SKILL F3-1333C9D-8GNS
ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5

do u think i should test my 750 CHIEFMAX POWER SUPPLY with the 770 video card on my buddys desktop or do u think it will kill my power supply? Asus says the 770 Power Consumption
up to 300Wadditional 6+8 pin PCIe power required and my power has all the pins for it and the cpu 95 W ram is 1.5v / i have had 2 8800 gt video card on my power supply in sli for over a year and ran fine. 8800 gt Minimum Recommended System Power (W)400W that is from nvida for 1 card
for the cpu temp when the desktop turns off i turned it back on right a way and in the post start up says 40c for the cpu

alright my misunderstanding hmm since you could run the physx test with sli 560tis and the chiefmax psu i would try it with the 770 then. i would be scared myself though cause i dont think chiefmax is known to have good power supplies.. and if anything the psu would fry the gpu if anything were to go wrong
my suggestion: buy another psu but if you really want to test the chiefmax psu with the 770 then only run the physx test and if it runs without problem then dont try it again and just get a new psu before you try anything else with the 770 and chiefmax psu together

I am not a pro at pc and did not go to school for this. i get a lot of what i know form all of you guys and ladys that post grate info on tom'shardware
