Hi,
I am contemplating building a new rig for running a system-heavy 3D modeler (as well as some not-so-heavy games). This is a tight-budget rig. I thought at first that I would go for the 1GB Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 (roughly 115.4$) but I also found the Zotac GeForce GT 630 Synergy Edition (85$). Which is better for me? Will the extra memory help? If so, should I just go for the 4GB variant of the GeForce (106.6$) ?

GT 630 is a very low end video card and can not take advantage of more than 1 GB of Video RAM. There is no point of buying 2 - 4 GB variants here.

If you want a card with decent processing power and ability to take advantage of 2 GB get HD 7850 or GTX 660 2 GB. But I guess that would get out of your budget. Just get 1 GB HD 6670 for now.

i'd go for the 6670. the 630 is like at the bottom of the ladder.

4gb for a lowend gpu? even if they give that 16gb in games. for 3d rendering i dont know as i am not familiar if they take advantage of those buffers

Thanks everybody, I also noticed another thing. The price of the Radeon is of the DDR5 variant. The DDR3 version's price is similar to that of the Geforce. Which one should I go for?

Get DDR5 Variant.

Normally good cards come with GDDR5 Memory but DDR3 is too low for a video card.
