Am I screwed?

-I 'built' a new PC a few weeks back. My processor is i5 3570k.

Since the next-gen consoles are using 8 cores, should I be worried?

-I trust a hardware guy. He has been our family 'computer guy' for years now. When he built the PC for me, he added the iball Sprinter 600w PSU to it. Is is a bad one? According to him, it is a quality one. But a few opinions on the internet say otherwise. Am I basically screwed?

-My GPU is HD 7950 OC. I game at 768p and am perfectly happy with it. How 'futureproof' is this? I also have an 8GB DDR3 RAM, by the way.

Thanks in advance, guys. I'm nervous and anxious.

Solution
If you can rebate your PSU right now then change it. If you can't then continue your normal usage of the PC, but please change the PSU in the upcoming 6-12 months. In my own experience that is the period when most low quality PSUs stop functioning. Generally, even the cheap China stuff survives the first 6 months (with few exceptions here and there). But after that 6-12 months period, most of them start degrading.

And contact your "computer guy". Ask him if to help you return the PSU if possible. Good luck.
1.Look dont look on amd 8 core ur is one f d best performing cpu its a way better dan top of the line 8350

2.yeah probably the hardware guy has done things wrong as this psu doesnt have 80plus certification so it is not gud
I think u should get a 620w seasonic psu from theitdepot.com @4500 approx

3. Yeah ur gpu is also up to date
U just need to get the psu problem solved

If the answer helped i wud appreciate a best answer marking

You are not screwed. I don't forsee any problems you are going to have performance wise in the next 2-3 years at 768p resolution. As it goes for the PSU, I never worked with that brand. Guess you are in the expertise in your "computer guy". Ask if you can refund the PSU and get an established brand. Seasonic, Corsair, CM, etc, 600W Bronze Certified preferable. Good luck

Off topic: Sn1992 RESTO IN PIEC INGRUSHU. Seriously....

The 80+ certification is for efficiency and quality of the provided current to the PC components. The Bronze certified PSUs will be best suited for your needs. Silver, Gold, Platinum may get very pricy.

On the other question. I dont believe your GPU will "burn immediately". Lower quality PSUs have faster degrading period. Meaning they have a lower life span. In the end of a PSUs life span the risk of malfunction rises exponentially. Also lower quality PSUs sometimes have something called "ripples"(any PSU has ripples to some extend, but high quality PSUs have those ripples in a minimal amplitude). It's basically noise in the electrical current. It can affect system stability (specially on overclocked systems). 3rd thing to consider is safety. Higher quality PSUs have better surge protection.

Thanks, mate.

I don't have much money left. This is a new PC. Should I not play any game with the current PSU? What damage can a damaged PSU cause to other components if it gets damaged?

Sorry, I am kind of a 'noob'.

Thanks again, guys. I've planned to extend with this card for not more than 12 months. I'll ask the computer guy if I can change it now with an exchange. If not, the former will be the solution.

Fair enough? :|

What do u mean by that???

^Thanks, friend.

By the way, I've started a hunt for a buyer of my current PSU. I am looking this. As soon as I find a buyer or collect enough funds, I'll buy this.

Till then, I can game wit this..right?

Its not about taxing the PSU, its about taxing the graphic card. It doesn't matter which game you run, depending on the quality options, you can tax your GPU at certain %. Certain % GPU load draw up certain power from the PSU. It's not about the game you play, its about how much you load your graphic card. And % load on the GPU is dependent on the settings of that game (low, medium, high, ultra or custom).
