I've encountered that many ps/2 keyboards don't function on the computers that run Windows 8. These keyboards work in BIOS quite fine but as soon as the logon screen appears the keyboards totally stop functioning. Any ideas why this happens?

Probably cause PS/2 keyboards are old and Win8 doen't support them anymore.

I'm not sure about it. Maybe some releases of Windows 8 don't support ps/2. Another guess it is just bugs since the operating system is quite fresh.

It has been reported in the Microsoft Community that this issue is encountered when the PS/2 driver has been disabled following a swap from PS/2 to USB. The solution that appears to be working for users there with the same issue was to edit the registry to restart the PS/2 service by changing the Start key in the following location in the registry to the value 1:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt

I've seen this link before. I did as it was told on the page. It didn't help either.
