^ great site.
You don't mentioned software cleaning so I'll suggest some for the sake of it too.
1. One of the most space grabbing redundant things on an OS is the TEMP files. These are somewhat beneficial but redundant once it gets too much. You might want to clear this 3-4 times yearly.
2. Registry, registry, these are annoying things that helps your computer but also slows it down so much. A registry error is a pain. Even if you uninstall a program, some uninstaller can't even remove their own registry from your computer! Leaving hundreds of unused, unrelated, untouched registry in your PC. To do this, either buy a good registry cleaner(Note: Many scams out there that shows good advertisement but deliver false promises) or follow this http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/how-to-tech/clean-computer-registry.htm

3. Virus, damn these bad guys, you avoid it, you set up your firewalls, you don't do nothing, yet it still creeps and crawl their way in your PC. What is so damnation about these fellows? Slow PC, retarded PC, crazy cycling restarts, weird things popping around, application opens like a ghost! Anyway just get a good antivirus to deal with these bad boys.

4. Ah, ads, why would you want to buy a broom? ADS of all kind of stuff flown around your browsers, some even finds it way onto your PC and pops up every now and then. What to do? Get ABP, I would say this is the best out there.
