I recently bought a MacBook off of craigslist, and in the bottom left of the login screen, the previous owner's information is listed. How do I remove it or replace it with my information?

Just reinstall the OS. It's right thing to do.

I don't want to reinstall the OS because he gave me some programs that would then have to be reinstalled.

There is no standard way to put any information on login screen in Mac OS X.
Must be that previous owner hacked it in some way. Maybe by altering default wallpaper.

Seeing the owners details on the log-in screen is unusual, It might be worth getting the machine checked for any Anti-Theft/Security software before you use it for anything "personal".
