Hello all, hopefully I can get some kind of help now.

My graphics card has been rattling for nearly a year, well I say rattle, it nearly sounds like its bubbling, and it's amazingly annoying, it's not the fan, I've checked this by both running the fan up to max speed whilst on desktop, no noise, I've also stopped the fan for a second with my finger, no joy. It only happens under load and at around 55c, I've rma'd the card already, and got a new one in replacement, I've put case fans in the pc to keep it cooled off, no joy.

Not sure whT to do from here, the gpu Is a msi GeForce gtx 550 ti cyclone ii oc.

Anyone have any ideas, I can get a recording of the sound if it helps.

Is it still under warranty?

If I remember correctly, no. I got it just over a year ago, and think it only had a 1 year warranty on it.

Hmm... That's a shame... Have you tried removing the cooling unit?

I wouldn't know how in all honesty, and I wouldn't trust my self

Well that's about the only option without having it repaired or replaced

Your best bet would be to send it in to a certified repairer or MSI, or Nvidia and get it repaired!

Will I sent it back to novatech, they sent it to msi, msi sent a refurbed card back, and novatech let me keep the card they lent me, but it does the aame thing, so something tells me it's all of the cards. But I can't afford to buy a new card.

Then I have no idea :(
Unless.... Could it be to do with a lack of power?

I wouldn't have thought so to be honest, running a 550w psu, that's running a gtx 550 ti, a amd phenom ii 945 , 2 hdds 1 DVD writer, 2 case fans, and the mobo

That is the noise that i get, but over the last couple weeks its become more constant, so when ever im runing demanding games "e.g gw2 wot or such" itl stay rattling like that, then when i come out itl take 10 or so minutes to stop.

I know its kind of futile as not a whole lot seems to know what it is, or how to fix it, but thats the sound.

Weird.. It sounds like the fan, but you said it wouldn't be...
Sure it's not a bad bearing or something? And are you SURE that that's the GPU? It sounds similar to a HDD when it's about to die

Well, the 2 hdds are supposedly ok, the one I've had for ages never makes a sound, the newer one has a bit of ticking every now and then but I think I cleared that up, and this rattle has been here since way before the second drive wen in, I'm pretty sure it's the gpu, as when I took it back and they gave me a loaner card it took it a couple of days to come back.

I've heard that the fan couple potentially have slipped down the rod and is able to wobble, and the way the card sits that maybe true, but like I said, stopping the fan doesn't change it, and setting fan to 100% on desktop doesn't make it happen either.

This has been fixed, should have stated, the problem was a faulty powere supply.

How did you figure out it was your PSU? Was it not providing acceptable current to the GPU? Did it die soon thereafter?

You RMA'd the card, but why did you think it was your PSU instead? By replacing the PSU, the noise went away? I have this low-pitch ticking hissing soft-clicking sound when playing games and it's pretty loud and driving me batty. I replaced the card and it's still there, but it's clearly coming from the card and only when under heavy graphics load.

Some are calling it coil whine (nothing whiney about it, really) but I think it might be a combination of newer graphics cards and particular PSUs. I should ask Nvidia/EVGA what PSU they recommend for the GTX 970...

So again, why did you resolve that it was PSU, and not GPU?
