I'm starting to get low FPS in most of my games. For example, DayZ, when standing still, I get 15-25 FPS. Running gives me 10-15 FPS. Free look gives me 10-15 also. Garry's Mod is also getting worse FPS. Before I would get 200+ FPS, and now I'm getting 30-60?! Some other games are working fine. Could it be that my CPU is dying, or could it be RAM? Please help.

PC Specs:
MOBO - MSI 760GM-E51
CPU - AMD FX 6100
GPU - ASUS GTX 660 TI
RAM - PNY 2x4GB
PSU - Corsair CX 600

Cpu's dont usually die, i think it may be your hard drive bottlenecking, or the cpu. What is you HDD, and how full is it?

have you check that you pc components are not overheating ?

updated graphic's drivers ?

made sure programs are not running in background (anti virus doing an auto scan) ?

I have 2 Hard Drives. My first hard drive is mainly where I install programs, and where Windows 7 is installed. It has 30 gigs left of 120GB. My second hard drive is where I usually install games, and has 600 gigs left of 1000GB.

I've already checked for overheating components. I did think that it was an overheating problem, so I changed my CPU cooler to a Hyper 212 Evo, which kept it a lot cooler, but did not help with FPS. GPU is also fine.

Humm, open task manager and delete any unnecessary programs running in the background, they could be slowing down the system.

First, check your GPU, CPU, RAM usage. Next, check to see if your PSU is dying, unlikely from Corsair but still you might got an unlucky batch. I highly doubt your CPU is the Bottlekneck, the 6100 can handle your GPU well.

I've tried this before. While getting low fps, my friend suggests to close programs in the background, but still nothing.

Alright, I'll post a screenshot of it while playing along with FPS.

Alright, so I tried closing the programs in the background again, didn't help. Anyways, here's the performance while playing Garry's Mod. FPS is at the top left. CPU RAM GPU are at the right.

I dont know man, ram isn't the issue, and the cpu and the gpu don't read max load, sorry, i don't know.

As you can see, you are reaching 130FPS with ~20% cpu and gpu usage while your vram is near 1GB. There isn't anything wrong with it. Can you run DayZ again and gives us the results? Low CPU usage could also means it is bottlekneck, try OC it too.

Sorry for the late reply. Yea I'll post the results for DayZ, but I wasn't reaching 130FPS in GMOD.

I couldn't get the FPS for some reason because the capture was acting weird, so I just included the performance. I was getting 22 FPS standing still, but on other servers, I would get higher. Could it just be the different mods/servers I play on? Before it wouldn't do this, but now it's starting to annoy me.

Fps can be affected by the ping and speed of the server, and mods can slow the game too, Dayz is still in the Alpha release and isn't very optimized and complete (lol, jelly spurts out of you when you bleed). Try playing on some different servers or in the singleplayer mode and see if you get a spike in fps. Internet speed can also play a factor, what speed is your internet?

I can't think of any beside heat right now(Can't actually be an issue because from your post, 11% fan speed at 55C isn't an issue) and like bob1033 says. Might want to check if you are actually just getting raw FPS or is it you are capturing in fraps while showing fps.

So I'm testing my RAM with memtest, with both sticks in, and I'm getting many errors on them. I'm gonna try one stick in one slot, and test it, to see if i get errors on that one. Then, I'll test the other one to see if I get errors on that one as well. If all goes well, I have no other choice but to see if it's my CPU, but if I get errors, it could be my RAM. What do you guys think?

There's your problem!! Memtest uses almost zero cpu, so your memory has gone bad. This explains the low frame rates. Im stupid, i should have told you to check the ram with memtest86

It's fine man. You, and the other people who are part of this thread helped a lot. Thanks guys. I'm testing the first stick, and no errors so far. So I'm thinking it could be the second stick.

I tested the both sticks of RAM on memtest. First stick got no errors, and second stick got 14 errors. I decided to switch slots, and test each stick of RAM there. I came up with different amount of errors. First stick came up with 1 error this time, and the second stick came up with 25 errors. Could it be my motherboard causing the low fps, or RAM?
