Hi I am having problems with my computer turning on by itself. I just built this computer 2 weeks ago, and been having this problem ever since i powered it on. I am sure i have disabled all the settings for wake on lan in the bios. I cleared all updates and defrags scheduled. I checked power options to see what the shutdown button does. I know my computer is shutting down because all the fans and leds power off. When on hibernate or sleep the fans are off but the leds are left on blinking. So after power off my computer turns itself on after a random period of time ranging from 10mins to a few hours. I am running Windows 7 and using ASUS Z87 Pro with i7-4770k. Also i have checked powercfg -lastwake, and it says Wake Source Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-V. I know this is the ethernet connection but there is no setting to disable wake?? Any opinions will be much appreciated

Something is definitely wrong if it claims to be waking from the lan when the lan isn't physically connected and you disabled wake on lan in the bios. Unfortunately, I can't tell whether the board is disobediently waking from some kind of phantom lan signal, or the powercfg software is misidentifying the cause of waking up. Until Asus is able to help you better, you could disconnect the power cord (or switch off the power strip if you use one) after shutting down.
I'm not familiar with that specific motherboard, but I can think of two options for you:
1. Contact Asus to find out if there's a setting you missed, or if there's a known issue of that board failing to obey the wake on lan settings (which might be fixable with a BIOS update).
2. Disconnect the lan cable after shutting down your computer, and connect it again before manually powering it on.

Ok thanks for your reply, yea i probably will call asus about this. But the lan cable is the actual cable right? because i am not using the cable, i am using a built in wireless receiver on the motherboard
