Will this build do for DSLR video editing?

HDD: 1tb wd caviar black 7200rpm
PSU: corsair 650w
GPU: gtx 650 ti

going to be editing only on adobe after effects and premiere, wont be doing much gaming maybe only one or two games

Alex, what is your budget?

CPU + mobo should be fine, however going with a i7 hyper threaded would be nice, as hyper threading shows improvement in video editing, but not for gaming however. Or if you are on a budget, you could go with a AMD 6core or 8 core.

RAM is good, 16GB is basically required for video editing.

I would pick up a SSD as well for your boot drive, and depending on your needs:

Intel 520: Reliability (look out for 510 on sale)
Samsung 840: Cheap and Speedy (look out for 830 on sale, 840 pro is a upgrade option)
Crucial M4 and Kingston HyperX ssds are good aswell.

PSU is fine, I would upgrade your graphics card to something like a GTX 760 however.

looks reasonable. but you can probably save a lot of money going for an AMD 6 core or 8 core. they will perform better for video editing and encoding..

or you could go i7, pay a LOT more and get the same performance (more or less, but AMD "smokes" i7 in encoding) compared to a AMD 8 core :)

If you are just editing amateur or home videos your system configuration will do just fine. (My system is several generations behind your configuration and I have no problem editing my Nikon D5100 videos). If, however, you intend to do editing for others, in great volume, or as the primary function of your system I would strongly encourage you to throw in an SSD and consider going with an i7 processor.

you at least want a source hdd and a destination hdd to get the most out of your cpu. other wise it will slow down because with only 1 drive the hdd will have to read then write then read then write... with ~12ms delay while the head moves each time. This is far from ideal. Ideally Adobe would like 4 seperate drives or arrays; an OS disk, a Source drive, A Destination Drive, and a Scratch drive.

my budget is $1000 max but any cheaper suggestions would definitely be appreciated. also, i dont think im going to be doing any hardcore editing. maybe just a few skate videos and documentaries but that's it. so, is my build just fine doing just that? or do i really need to upgrade to an i7? lastly, an amd fx 8350 is hard to come by where im from and i think i'd rather go with the new haswell technology. thank you all for the quick repsonses!

Yup, should be fine.

Just upgrade to an SSD and get a better GPU when you have the chance.
