I just built a computer with a h61m-plus mobo with 4gb ripjaws ddr3 and I just put a i5 3570 in it and hooked my monitor up to it via dvi-d. When I turned it on I did not display anything. I am totally confused.
It is simply better and easier to buy a new motherboard with a B75 chipset. Much less hassle and you avoid accidentally installing the BIOS incorrectly where it would simply "brick" the mobo to the point where you cannot even restore the original BIOS. Thus, the mobo would more or less be a brick since you can't do anything with it.
An H61 requires a BIOS update before you can use an Ivy Bridge Chipset. You should return it and get one with a B75 chipset as those work out of the box. You could also order a $60 pentium and update the bios with that (assuming you get a sandy bridge pentium)

I just realized that I had 2 old pentiums that came out of a old dell. I believe that they are pentuim 4s. Will those work?
