Hi, I was updating the drivers on my laptop using updates from Toshiba support when I stumbled on BIOS updates. I downloaded the updates and the installation process went through flawlessly to completion, or so I thought. The laptop automatically shut down. I then tried to switch it on but it's screen is just blank. The On led light shows that the machine is on, the wifi and chargers are all working too. The screen though won't display anything.

The laptop is a Toshiba R945-9440

Hence why I just advised in another thread, don't update your BIOS unless there a specific reason to. Every time you write to the chip, it has risk of failure. With different motherboard revisions and such, people flash the wrong thing sometimes.

Sometimes on laptops, you can try to drain the caps, remove the battery and power, and hold down the power button for about 30 seconds, see if that triggers a BIOS restart. Open it up and remove the battery and try and drain it, or send it to Toshiba or a BIOS repair company possibly. I would try the power button thing first though.
