I am trying to fix my son's computer but have hit a wall. Yesterday when he turned on his windows 7 computer he got an alert from the Curse program that an error occurred while trying to load a Microsoft .Net configuration file. It has a link to the Microsoft .Net3.5 download page. I have tried installing the file but every time it aborts and just says setup error. I tried the Microsoft .Net Repair tool to no avail. I even tried a repair off the Win7 Professional x64 install DVD. The main programs affected are Curse and World of Warcraft. Neither will function.
I would appreciate any assistance you can render.

That is probably because the current .NET is 4 not 3.5, so this has been superseded and probably the conflict. As for the programs not running, I would suggest running System Restore to before Curse was installed. Then look at the .Net download page again while looking at your Add/Removes, make sure you have all the .Nets for x64 in your system it says to install. I will tell you that it gets bad enough you may have to reload Windows from the beginning. I would also then seek the Curse support site and see if there is anything special for your setup to avoid the problems.
