Ok we all know that a DDR5 video card will work in a pc running DDR2 RAM. What I want to know is if my PC will fully utilize the added speed and performance of a DDR5 card say compared to a DDR3 card? I am looking at a Gigabyte GT 640 low profile compared to the Gigabyte GT 630 low profile. Both have the same number of cuda cores (384) with the GT 640 having 1GB DDR5 with much higher clock speeds and the GT 630 having 2GB DDR3. My PC is an HP Slimline S5623w with an AMD Phenom II X4 850 3.3GHz, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 400w TFX PSU and a cheap EVGA 8400gs 1GB DDR3 video card. So would my PC reap all the benefits of a bigger better card or are there performance limitations due to the semi dated system?
