I usually run a gtx 670 on my mobo with a 2600k with a 6 month old XFX 650W PSU. Tried to test a second hand gpu for a friend but it won't work on my PC. Tested 7970 on original owners PC and it works fine. Had similar problem before but couldn't test gpu so just thought gpu was at fault but tbh with same symptoms I think it could have been my mobo then.

When I install the 7970 and boot, the PC powers on but does nothing. It won't POST! Displays never get signal and it never loads to windows (would hear windows loading through speakers).

Things I have tried.

Different PCI-E slot, different PSU, update bios, clear CMOS, unplug hdd/cd drive etc.

When I had same problem before I was using different ram and only had one stick installed.

Has anyone had any similar problems with their MSI Z68 mobo? Anyone else know something I should try?

Cheers

Sorry meant to say that I have also tried it with a brand new Thermaltake 850W PSU as well.

Hello I have a similar problem with my Z68a GD80 b3 but with a HD 7950.
Everything is fine with previous VGA (GTX 470, GTX 770) I even tried with a HD 6950 and it runs fine but with a functioning HD 7950 I can't boot neither have a video signal.

Did you manage to fix it ?

Thanks
