Hi guys,

I want tu upgrade my old rig and below are my choices:

- Intel Core i5-4670 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor
- Asus Z77 Sabertooth Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
- Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz

Do you know about any conflicts for above?

What fan (good performance and quiet) would you suggest?

What SSD drive (256 GB) would you suggest?

Does Haswell require any special PSU or the one that I use currently (powering core2duo) is still the right standard?

Thx for your answers.

Yes, the K version is just an indicator that its unlocked, it means it's overclockable
Remember the codenames instead :)
Ivy bridge = Z77 chipset
Haswell = Z87 chipset for easiest overclocking

Both Ivy bridge and Haswell is really good so it's up to you which one you like the most

And yes if you mean the Hyper 212 evo cooler, it comes with thermal paste

You should get the K version of the CPU and a motherboard with Z87 chipset, that way you can do some overclocking no problem! If you decide to overclock a little bit get a CPU fan cooler, i suggest the Cooler Master hyper 212 evo :)

I personally believe you should get a K processor as you can overclock it if you want. As in SSD's I don't think you'll need 256GB as you'll be overkilling, instead buy a OCZ vertex 4 64 GB and use the rest of the money to upgrade to a better GPU or CPU.
You also won't need more than 4 GB for gaming so I think you should get a G Skillz Ripjaws 8GB DDR3 RAM instead.

As for your CPU I think you should get a i5 3550k / i5 3570k as they're both really good cpu's with high potential of overclocking.
And your choice of motherboard is great as you can easily overclock with it.

EDIT: If you want to boot your computer faster, install your OS on your SSD.

Hope it helps!

Thank you so far!

Michael - but there is no point ;), my old rig is 5 years old (except PSU and Graphic Card that I had to replace last year) and I dont even remember detailed names for components. I am going to change 3 core components that I listed above Plus get SSD drive.

Oops sorry I didn't realise that I wrote Z77 instead of Z87.

Wow, this heat-sink is huge and quite heavy, hope it wont damage my mobo when PC will be moved around ;)

Does it come with thermal paste or I need to get one separately?

And to summarise:
For OC version K of CPU and sabertooth Z87
for non-OC normal i5 and Sabertooth Z77
Is that correct?
