overclocking 1333ram on MSI P67A-G45

i have a MSI P67A-G45 motherboard and i just overclocked my 2500k
while i was in there there was an option to turn my ram from 1333-1600
couple of questions is it that easy what effects could there be and will i see any gains i have 8gb of XMS3

What is the base default speed of the memory? And what is the rated memory speed like 1333MHz? If it is 1333MHz or 1066MHz then OCin the memory is not a good idea and it is not worth it. Instead go with 1600MHz or 1866MHz memory.
