tv and laptop wont connect

using a monitor connection cable all i get on screen is "mode not supported" message. I have done all the settings on the laptop ie: connect display etc but to no avail can anyone help me please?

What's your screen resolution set to, and what's the maximum resolution your TV will support? Sounds like your laptop may be trying to push the TV past its limit.

It could also be an issue with the refresh rate.
