Hello, I recently bought my mom a new computer to help her play The Sims 3, before we ordered it, we made sure to look at the system requirements for the game, and we were up to par. I have installed the game on my own desktop before, so I know it works..

Upon installation on my mom's PC, it begins, but stops and says CRC error.. saying something like CRC error: The file C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\Packages\ ??? Does not match the .cab file.
And it wants me to ignore/retry/abort..

Ive tried CC cleaner for registry, but it didn't help..

PC specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3330S CPU @ 2.70GHz

Minimum: (XP) 1 GB RAM; (Vista/7) 1.5 GB RAM [If built-in graphics then add 0.5 GB additional RAM]
You Have: 8.1 GB

Minimum: 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 or above / ATI Radeon 9500 or above / Intel GMA 3-series or above)
You Have: Intel(R) HD Graphics

-Got from "Can you run this"... everything is Checked with "Ok"

Please help.

@rgd1101 That could be the case, I searched for the same issue after reading this and it seems that JMCross is not the only person receiving this error. People have been receiving this error even when downloading it digitally (from EA's official download manager), however it looks like it only occurred with people who pre-ordered the game.

In all honesty to me, it looks like faulty install media and you should contact either the store you brought it from or talk to Electronic Arts customer support about it

But that's just my input, good look in getting this issue fixed!

Hi, The "CRC" issue you are getting stands for "Cyclic Redundancy Check" this is usually an issue with the install media (the install disc may be faulty). The software may have installed on your desktop fine, but is there a chance that in the time between the installation on your desktop and your mom's computer, that the disc could have since scratched or marked?
