I'm doing an out of the case test with an Amd fx 6350 and an asus m5a97. Everything is working fine except for the heatsink. Being on for about 10 seconds the heatsink does get noticeably warm. I've tried to put it on two different ways and both get the error message. I'm think that it might that there is too much thermal paste per installed on the heatsink. If nothing else works, would it be a good idea to clean off my CPU with a microfibre cloth and some rubbing alcohol, and scrape off some of the thermal paste on the heatsink? That will be my last resort.

Wow. Yeah turns out that i had it plugged in to the wrong 4 pin connector. The labels on the motherboard wasn't exactly clear on which was the CPU fan but i figured which it was and my UEFI BIOS screen loaded up just fine. :)
