dual core processors problem with my board and ram

i have purchased intel dual core e5200 and i know it will fit my ga-g31 es2l , have upgrade my ram to 4 giga with different pc bandwidth , my problem is when im trying to open windows it takes about 1 minutes and the pc totally hangs and freezes ,i hvae tried overclocking but no way ,have removed one of the ram the pc works fine ,replaced the dual core with core 2 duo the same problem still exict with the 4 giga ram ,when i rremove one of them it works just fine

motherboard gigabytes ga-g31 es2l
processors : core2duo e6400 -intel Pentium e5200
ram : 2 giga nnix pc2-6400(800mhz) - kingbox pc2-6400(666mhz)

plz can anyone suggest if there is a solve for my problem

no i havent , i tied to flash it giving me error id or something like that ,so i give up updating bios

i have another question if i may , which is better to my 7300 le gf i know it is very old graphic card but i wanna upgrade to ati 6XXX series and wanna get much fps without bottlenick it , intel pantuim e5200 (2.5mhz) or intel core2duo e6400 (2.13mhz)

make sure you pick the correct motherboard revision when download bios update.
So you only have issue when you use more then 1 stick or ram?

i have donwloaded from the site and tried to flash it but it didnt work :S may be im flashing with a wrong way ?

yea when im using more than one ram ,i have 3 rams 1 gig with pc2-5300 and the others with pc2-64oo with diffrent mhz

are you sure it is worth investing on such a old PC?

try running with two rams of PC2-6400. first on single channel if it works move to dual channel.

if that works, than add the third one.

let us know how it works..good luck!

NOTE: by definition C2D is better. but the difference in clock speed will mean that they will perform relative to eachother

i have only 2 slots of ram on my mb every single ram works fine but when i move to dual channel hence the problem is

see if you can boot in safe mood.. or a boot disk. reset bios. try running ubuntu from CD-ROM/USB and if it works, than maybe reinstall windows. or it could be a mobo problem.


also have you tried running one stick from each of the two slots? does it work?

update the bios. sounds like your bios doesn't work with your new cpu natively.

1- 1 gig ram pc2-5300 (333 mhz)
2- 2 gig ram nnix pc2-64oo (800 mhz)
3-2 gig ram king box wicrtten pc2-6500 (800 mhz) ,on cpuz written pc2-5300(333) on board 666 mhz and it interleveled the pc2-6400 and flex mode with 1 gig ram even they have the same pc :S

thing are RAM are sometime they don't work with different one. return the new one and buy are one that are sold in pair.

did he not say he has the same problem with both CPU?

thanx for ur help i appropriate everything and ur efforts all thanx again the problem was in my bios update i have searched again the rev of the bios yea it is diffrent if there is another number beside so i selected the right one updating it and no problem now even if not exist memory pc , another question what do u advice me with ? core2duo e6400 2.1 cache 2 or intel pantuim e5200 2.5 cache 2 m the core2duo one is more expensive in my town ,im using 7300le nvidia gf and im welling to upgrade to ati 6xxx seies which processor will give me the best performance ?

thnax i have chosen the intel pantuim processor the core speed much higher and the processor manufacture in 2008 newer than the core2duo one
