Does it matter if I use a different card (make/model) for my Crossfire setup?

Currently I have the HIS IceQ HD 7870 GHz Edition GPU and I'm considering adding a second, possibly the PowerColor Devil HD7870 .

Also, do you guys really think it would be worth adding a second card given my current system?

| AMD FX-6300 @ 3.5 GHz
| HIS IceQ HD 7870 GHz Edition @ 1212 MHz
| 16 GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengance
| ASUS M5A97 R2.0 Mobo
| Samsung 840 120GB SSD(Boot)
| Seagate 1TB(Games and Media)
| SeaSonic 520W PSU
| Cooler Master HAF 912

Thanks!

Lots of people on here would be jealous of your PSU, I wouldn't change it at all.

For the price of a new, equal quality PSU and another 7870, you can get a better, single video card.

The 7870 CF setup won't necessarily work better than a single 7870 on all games, which is why I'm suggesting to get a newer video card instead.

520w might be insufficient for a 7870 CrossFire setup. Other members care to chime in?

Also, the lowest clock speed of the two cards will be taken, so if you get the PowerColor 7870, they will both run at 1100 MHz.

If I were you, I'd upgrade the current video card.

Didn't even think about my PSU when I posted this. And I will add that I just built this system back in February, seems kinda silly upgrading the GPU so soon. That's why I was going with the crossfire option. Would I really see much of an improvement if I were to add a second 7870 anyway? (assuming that I upgraded the PSU as well)
