Just obtained a 990x and 12 more GB of RAM through a sweet deal and was wondering if there is anything special I have to do before installing them.

My current rig is

Intel i7 960
ASUS Rampage III Formula 1366 /X58
12 GB Corsair Dominator 1600 Triple Channel
2 X EVGA 670 FTW 2GB SLI

My Bios is the latest version available for the Rampage III Formula.

Should I be able to just slap the parts in and be done with it?
Will windows recognize the new CPU and added memory after booting up?

Solution
out with the old, in with the new.

-Unplug the system
-remove ram
-remove CPU heatsink
-remove CPU
-Clean CPU heatsink. This is very very important!
-drop in and secure CPU
-put a small pea sized dab of thermal paste in the center of the CPU
-install CPU heatsink back on, being sure to apply firm even pressure to ensure that paste is spread across the whole CPU evenly. If you are not sure if you can do this properly then look online for other methods of spreading paste.
-install new RAM
-Turn it back on
-eat cake
