Changing the Mobo

I have an old beast (emachines P1742) that I use for emails at the cottage, but the (Intel I think) mobo has given up the ghost (bad/leaking caps) and it's cheaper to just buy a good used board and change out the mobo.
I found an AOpen S651M for $10 so my question is...
What will happen if I swap out the mobo, keeping in mind that the hard drive etc will be from the original config...
will Win XP (SP3) start up or won't it because it doesn't match the orig installation...?

I'm hoping I can get it running and then just update some of the drivers to tune up the config for the new mobo...

Of course I'm trying to avoid reloading WinXP and all the updates, applns etc etc...

Thanks and cheers...

If you get a replacement motherboard that isn't the same as the original, you will have to re-install Windows XP/Updates/Applications.

Hmmm - thanks for the reply happyslamdance - I was afraid that w/b the case but does that mean I need a new version of WinXP, since my existing copy will be "registered" for the old/original mobo config...?

Microsoft Windows XP EULA states: You may install, use, access, display and run one copy of the Product on a single computer,
such as a workstation, terminal or other device (“Workstation Computer”).

Thanks for the inputs but I was able to resolve my problem by NOT having to swap out the mobo.

The problem with my WinXP PC not starting up (in fact I couldn't even run the BIOS set up) - which I thought was because of a dead mobo, turned out to be a bad RAM stick - and when I changed the RAM the PC finally started up and has been running OK...

Cheers....
