SLI or Crossfire- Maybe, but I am leaning more towards no for this build

I prefer only name brand (well known) parts and will perform all assembly myself.
This is my first computer build and the reason for this build is of course to play games, the newest ones in pretty near to the high specs, but I have a budget I have set that I also need to follow so that I can trust myself during future builds and other tech upgrades to not overspend for what I do not need. I currently have a net book as my laptop broke, with a wee Intel Atom inside...slower than my phone...
Also, I am choosing the Ivy bridge due to toms hardwares own review that a high performance gaming CPU need only cost sub 230 before a diminishing return. 210 for the ivy bridge sounded good to me. thoughts?
