As seen in the title my gpu idles at around 53C (Summer right now, ambient temp of ~77-80 F) and runs at around 80C with load.

OC'ed up from 860MHz to 900MHz. No voltage bump, but would like to.

Concerned about the high idle (ive read of other people idling at around 30C, and load at ~53C).

I plan on adding an intake fan on the side panel. Hoping that will knock off a few degrees.

What are your thoughts?

It's because XFX's cooling system is crap. The idles of 30C you read about will be other manufacturers.

XFX GPUs are pretty much the worst on the market. The only thing "good" about them is that they're usually pretty cheap. Obviously though, they're cheap because they're sub-par quality. You get what you pay for.

80C on load isn't dangerous though tbh - 90C would be a cause for concern. 80C is high, but it's nothing to be overly worried about.

That sounds alittle bit harsh, doesn't it? Before I bought the card I read around alot concerning different manufacturers and everyone regarded XFX to be one of the best brands/better regarded. Did you have a bad experience with one of their cards? Or own one? Curious as to how you're coming to the above conclusion.

Also the temperatures I'm reporting probably were mostly other brands but i know a few of them were xfx cards that idled in the 30s

They used to be good, but they aren't anymore.

And yes, I had one, it broke after about 2 months, then the RMA process was a pain due to the poor customer service, so I just bought a new GPU instead. I'll never buy from XFX again.

And it's just common knowledge on these forums that they're bad cards, I'm not the only one who thinks so. :p

60fps?

I was hoping to stay amd so i don't have to redo drivers lol. Call me lazy.
I prefer fresh installs

Probably 60fps, aiye. It can run BF3 on Ultra (1080p) at ~70fps.

You could stay AMD, but the closest performing card is the 7950, which is like, 100$ more than the GTX 760, and the GTX 760 still thrashes it to death.

Actually they are very close with the 7950 winning in some cases.

But it is true that the 760 is more bang for the buck. Although it is claimed that BF4 will be AMD optimized.

As far as you card temp goes, it isn't all that bad considering your ambient is a bit high. It is alittle warm but not horrible.

They are very close! But the 100$ gap makes all the difference (for me, anyway) - even if AMD's Never Settle bundle is a superb deal.

And aiye, I hope the optimization is good for AMD - Nvidia ran AMD into the floor in regards to BF3 performance. I also heard that BF4 might be bundled with AMD's new HD 8xxx cards (or 9xxx, as some people claim they're skipping HD 8xxx in the consumer sector) - which would be awesome!

Don't hold me to it but when I was looking at the 7950 the price difference wasn't more than 50 bucks, even less in some cases. They might have been lower end reference cards though. Its going to be a tough choice, nvidia or amd. BF4 will be amd optimized, but that doesn't necessarily mean amd hardware will run it better..
