I just purchased a 27" monitor to go along with my 30"er. The resolution of the 30" is 2560x1600 or something and the 27 will be 2560x1440.

I know I need a card with either DVI (does it have to be DVI-D?) and/or Displayport to support the full resolution. Will a card that has both support full resolution at the same time?

My current Dell xps 8300 has a ATI Radeon HD 5670 but only one DVI port but no displayport. Could I buy a second card and run one monitor on each? Or would one card be a better solution. I also may need to take into account the oem power supply which I believe is 460w.

I don't really care about gaming much either, but I wouldn't mind playing some battlefield every now and then. I'd love to hear some good options.

Thanks.

Your card must support either DisplayPort, Dual Link DVI-I or Dual Link DVI-D to use the full resolution. Single Link will not work, nor will DVI-A, VGA, or HDMI. The monitor will support these formats, but not at full resolution or colour depth.

gaming on that beast will require one hell of a card. Nothing short of a single 7970 will cut it at 2560x1600 (trust me, I have a u3011 and two 7970s)

If you're using them for professional applications, you could probably get away with a 7790.
