Hi, I have the Z87-G45 Gaming motherboard and it has HD audio on-board. I have the six audio ports on the back of my motherboard and I'm wondering if their anyway to link the HD audio to the front panel headphone slot. Also, I want the HD audio to be used on my monitor, which only has an Audio In port. So do I hook the cord in the back of my comp to the motherboard?
Your motherboard should have a header to connect an HD-Audio front panel connector. Many cases have a dual connector which provides connectors for both AC97' audio and HD audio, the pinout is slightly different and the connectors have a different key.
If your monitor has speakers on it, it may be able to receive audio over HDMI or DisplayPort. Check your windows playback devices to see if your monitor shows up.
