Will an AMD Vishera 8350 work with my Mobo?

Hey there.

I currently have a ASUS M4N68T-M V2 MOBO and a Phenom II x4 955 CPU and am looking to upgrade to the Vishera 8350 CPU. The problem is the Vishera is an am3+ CPU and my Mobo is only am3. I know that am3+ CPUs will work in am3 boards, but most require a bios update. And my Mobo sadly doesn't have an update that specifically supports am3+ CPUs.

So, its not supported, but technically it should work? Should I go ahead and try it? Or do I really have to buy a new motherboard?

It does not seem so, the closest would be the AsRock 970 Extreme3, which will handle it fine @Stock clocks.

It's not listed under supported Cpu's. I'd buy another motherboard. the 970 chipset is reasonably priced and a good companion for that Cpu. You can also spend a little more and go with a 990fx chipset. Difference in price is probably 40+ dollars or more between the two.

Sadly, the BIOS was never updated to accept the 125W Piledriver FX8350 CPU and thus it will not recognize it. If you want to upgrade to a FX8350, you will need a new AM3+ motherboard. Here are some motherboards you could consider.
