RAM timing? Does it matter?

I am building a system with an i5 4670k and want to do a moderate overclock to 4.0ghz. Can someone recommend some low profile RAM that will fit under a Noctua D14 or Phanteks cooler?

Is paying an extra $20 for tighter RAM timing worth it?

Whats it for and how much RAM do you want? I would try to get only 2 sticks to run dual channel.

This is what I have and they seem to be just fine for gaming. People will tell you 1600MHz is just fine but I like a little headroom.

I just noticed that Newegg has this RAM free with a Z77 motherboard... Is it any good? Maybe I can save $75 if I go with Ivybridge this way.. I appreciate your input.

Im pretty sure any of these kits will fit with the Noctoua. As long as you stick to 2 sticks you should be fine if the MOBOs dual channel is DIMM2 and DIMM 4.

G.Skill Ares type RAM is their low-profile RAM. Sniper is actually a smidgen higher than Ripjaws X.

I would trust anything from Crucial, G.skill, and Corsair.

It may be just because of the sights of the "rifle" but unless you feel like hacking it off, it's still there.
