First time building a computer, are these good parts?

I've never built my on PC before and I recently looked at some parts, I have a soft $1000 budget and I chose these parts, I am open to suggestions!
Here is the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1hNXN
I tried to go full out with my budget, because I would be too lazy to upgrade it later. I also am gonna name and engrave it, Jarvis. Other name candidates for my PC was also Glados, Cortana, and the Harbringer of Death. Which names do you guys like the best? Thanks!

The build is not bad, here are some improvements you could consider. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1hOot I replaced the full size, outdated original NZXT Phantom for the new, Mid Tower (Still plenty of room) NZXT Phantom 410 and added a Samsung 840 Pro SSD. I also added a 650W XFX ProSeries PSU and replaced the AsRock Pro4 with an AsRock Extreme 4, which supports higher overclocks. And finally, I replaced the H60i, for the similar in performance and highly-recommended Hyper 212 EVO. There are a few other minor changes as well. If it is just a bit too expensive, you can drop the SSD.

Haswell is a very small increase over Ivy Bridge that can be made up easily and overclocks worse. The GTX 770 is out of budget, but he could use the 760 as that is neck-a-neck with the 7950. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1hOzN
    However, there is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1389949&PrimaryItem=N82E16813157371

Haswell z87 has 6 Sata 3 ports while Z77 has only 2 , z87 has two extra usb3 as well ... and that in the chipset for the entry level motherboards.

new Z87 motherboards also have better sound chips.

I know 770 GTX is out of his budget , but it is up to him to say if he would pay $150 more or not :)

besides he is wasting 100$ on case , he can get 50$ case and be close to a GTX 770 :)

See the updated Haswell parts list, I almost forgot about the amazing combo.
  6. I'm using it as a gaming machine, and thanks guys for the suggestions! Now, which name should I pick?

Jarvis or Glados (If it you feel confused building it, call it GLADOS :3) I think the Updated Haswell Rig I linked is the best balance of all your needs, if you cannot afford the extra 100$, drop the SSD.
  8. If you can pay 1130 , this is alot better

    http://pcpartpicker.com/user/sna/saved/1YJE

the mother board here has a super onboard sound and 600 ohm amp

plus this is a GTX 770

you can lower it 100$ by changing the motherboard to normal one (not recommended)

    plus this case is awsome.

That being said, he does lose the SSD.

Well, he can sell the 760, but I must admit you have a point. Here is my alternative themed in a overkill NZXT 410 case :3 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1hQgm

Hmm, I live in Canada and after checking the prices it surpasses my budget by around $100. Is there any other processor (Doesn't matter if it's AMD or Intel) that offers around the same performance in gaming that an i5 or the 3570k has, but maybe slightly cheaper? Or a processor that I could overclock to speeds of a 3570k?
