Is this a Solid Gaming PC Build?

Solution
Looks pretty good, only one thing... Ditch the power supply. It's not 80+ rated. Go with a corsair, I have one and it works great for me.

Btw, the massive heat spreaders on the RAM isn't necessary. You could get some smaller spreaders if you find a cheaper price.

Also, if possible, don't go with MSI. I bought mobos from them before. Every time I get one there DOA. Go with asus or asrock if you can. Just please, PLEASE, don't go with MSI.

Other than that looks great!

We have a very similar build!

I've played:
BF3 on ultra w/ no lag and constant 50-60 fps
Far Cry 3 on high with 60fps
Just cause 2 on high
Skyrim on high

I have a radeon 7770. Your 650ti is 1 step above mine!

Get a 7200 rpm hdd
Change your ram to the low profile sticks, so you don't have cpu cooler fitment issues.
I would go with an Asus board.

I would get a 650W power supply from Corsair or Seasonic that is modular or semi-modular so you only use the cables you need. And with 650W you would have room for more upgrades down the road and not have to buy another power supply when you upgrade because 500W wasn't enough. Buying a higher quality power supply is something you won't regret, and it will likely last you several builds. I have Seasonic X-850 850W myself and it works very well.

And I would choose a different case from Corsair, Antec, Cooler Master, or NZXT (that has more airflow) and fill it full of fans, but that is just me. If you like that case you picked, stick with it.

What games you gonna play and at what settings?

If you can afford to save more I would get a 760 from Nvidia or a 7870 from AMD for a video card. Or if you are lucky you might find an AMD 7950 on sale (sometimes on sale for around $250ish to $300ish)

And do research on how long your video card is and how tall your cpu cooler is and make sure the case you select can fit those components.

Just up the power supply to one of the ones I linked above. You will have way better build then.
Read this article on power supplies. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913.html

(optional)- get a better graphics card if you can afford to and look for sales, there are bound to be back to school sales soon. A 760 or 660 or a 7870 or a 7950 on sale would be nice if you can save a about a hundred more. And remember the AMD cards come with games.

If you are looking for case fans for whatever case you end up selecting, look at Noctua's and Corsair's fans, they perform and are quiet. Or you can get some cooler master fans or other brand fans that light up your favorite color or do a themed build, if you are into that.

My build lights up Red, White and Blue for America.

Thanks! I will probably upgrade the PSU but wait and upgrade my graphics card a little farther down the road. If I run into a bit more money I will be sure to upgrade the graphics card as well.
