Intel RSTe enterprise controller not running

Hello,
I'm looking to install additional storage drives to create a Raid 10 array (4x1TB). I recently read that the Intel RSTe should allow me to convert my existing Raid1 into Raid 10 without data loss using Intel's RSTe controller in win7. Seems simple enough...

What's troubling me is that upon trying to open Intel RSTe controller I get the following error "An unknown error occurred while running this application. If the problem persists, please restart your computer or try reinstalling the application" - I've tried both without success. The system tray shows a green check for RSTe and all my drives are working properly with no issues. However, the Intel controller GUI simply won't load - I believe this is IAStorUI.exe

My current system is Intel 180GB SSD boot drive on Marvel controler, Seagate 2x1TB in Raid 1 for storage on the Intel 3GB/s sata ports. MB is Asus P9X79 Pro. I am planning to add 2 more identical 1TB drives for Raid10

Thanks pinhedd,
Indeed, I'm running v4005 for the x79 bios as of may.
Today, I've updated the RSTe as I believe the previous driver was RSTe for X79 - looks like I'm currently at v3.6.0.1086 (via asustek).I did just find that Upon trying to enter the intel RST ROM using ctrl+I during POST I can no longer get into this utility. Strange as this is how I originally setup the raid and yet still seem to be working fine in windows. Come to think of it, the raid drives used to show briefly during post but that is no longer the case. Did the new BIOS possibly create this issue reverting to some default settings?

Thanks again for any help you can offer.

The CTRL+I is the old BIOS OPROM. It's executed by the firmware during POST but not integrated with the firmware settings directly. The new UEFI driver is integrated directly with the UEFI firmware and can be accessed through the firmware settings (DEL).

Thanks for such a quick reply...
I believe my problem is solved now - it looks like upon updating the MB bios it defaulted the sata to AHCI. I simply entered the UEFI bios and changed back to RAID. POST now shows the raid drives, I can enter the intel rom via ctrl+I and most importantly the RSTe conrroller GUI in win7 is working fine. Now on to configuring Raid10... JUST 4hrs of my life ill never get back.

Yup. That's one of the most annoying features of the Asus firmware, always have to reset firmware settings after update.
