SSD 400 mb system partition

I cloned two SSD,s one for my laptop one for my boot disk desktop.
They both cloned with 400mb system partitions.
I deleted the partition for my desktop SDD and rebuilt the drive before clean installing Windows 8 on it and a 100mb partition was created by windows 8.
I am going to do an upgrade 8 install on my laptop.
Should I shrink the 400mb system partition to 100mb as it seems a wast.
What are your thoughts on this?

Ok, than you really shouldn't have to worry about the 400mb partition. That will hardly put a dent in your storage ability.

The small hidden partition is, I think, the windows recovery partition. It is intended to aid recovery in case of a windows failure.
I would leave it be. The size is usually in the 200mb range, not enough to worry about.

I did not realize that I thought it was just the boot loader, or whatever you call it.
If that's the case I will leave it be.

In this case, it is much better to have to much, then potentially not enough. Your system may utilize a good amount of that partition, as my laptop maxed out a 100mb partition previously.
