as my powerline adapters and getting around 200~500kbps download speeds on a 15mbps dl package.

If I upgrade to ->

will I notice an enormous difference? I at least want 2~5 MBPS download speeds...

Oh, if you're wondering how the internet is that fu**ing horrendous to begin with, I got the cable guys comin' later today.... any help would be appreciated, I'm really in a jam here.

I would try a computer directly on your modem to see if the Homeplug adapters are messing the speed up that much.

15megabits/sec = 1.875 megabytes/sec so 2-5 megabytes will simply not happen. In all honestly a 85megabit adapter should have been ok.

This said, You may wish to check out the speed from PC to PC if you have more then one system to test on each side of the adapters.

I agree with Nukemaster that you should test the Internet independent of the powerline units, but they generally do not come anywhere near their rated speeds.

Over most circuits in my home and others that I've tested (whether two plugs on the same circuit or on different circuits on the same main) the 500Mbps adapters usually achieve 40-50Mbps, so close to what you would like, but unfortunately your Internet is slower than that at only 15Mbps. Take a look at the individual adapter reviews HERE -- it is one of the best places to compare powerline products in actual use tests.

Also, insure that you don't have any powerful electric motors on the circuit that each PL adapter is on, because that causes interference that slows the connection. One way to remedy it that works well for small motors like floor fans is to attach the floor fan to the AC plug with a short (4-6 foot) extension cord. As you likely already know, do not plug the PL adapters into surge protectors. Good luck.
