Hey guys I just found this forum while tirelessly searching for answers to my problem and I'm hoping somebody can help me out. I got the Xonar DGX a few days ago and it still isn't working correctly.

I'm on a newer HP p7-1258 64-bit Windows 7 machine with 8 gigs RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6550D Graphics. The problem I am having is the sound card will play okay for a minute or so and then just die. The card freezes (not my whole computer, well sometimes, but not usually) and all sounds stops. Music in iTunes gets stuck at 0:00 and doesn't play at all. Music in VLC shows it's playing but no sound. There isn't even any graphic equalizer movement so I know the card isn't putting out anything. I restart my computer and it works again, for a minute or so then the same problem arises.

I've tried everything I can think of and I think I have it narrowed down. Different slots, Unified drivers, making sure all other sound drivers are gone, turn off onboard sound in bios, updated bios, the DGX is the only sound option in my playback options, etc...it goes on and on. SO, what I have figured out is that if I disable my graphics card (which is onboard), my problem disappears. The sound card works great and plays like it should with no freezing or stopping at all. I enable the graphics and it still works..but then I reboot - same problem again! I tried updating the graphics drivers but it didn't help. I read somewhere that these 2 devices have the same IRQ and it can cause conflicts. I looked and from what I see this isn't the case. I honestly don't even know what that means. Help would be appreciated, thank you!

Do you have the latest BIOS (a possible), a more likely probably is an underpowered PSU

Thanks for the reply. I ended up plugging the card into the only PCIe x16 slot and guess what, it works perfectly. It wouldn't work at all on the other normal PCIe slots. I didn't realize I could put it in the x16 slot, now I feel like an idiot!

Does anyone else have any suggestions on this particular problem? I am having the literally exact same problems except when I plug my card in the 16x spot the board doesn't read it. I haven't messed with my onboard graphics card but there aren't any IRQ conflicts listed. I plugged it into a computer running linux and it seemed to work with no problem (ie ran Pandora for a few minutes with no issues, on my system pandora will play for about 25 seconds then the sound will freeze and it will start skipping through songs without playing anything). Thanks!
