ASRock+G31M-GS+REV+1.01,+LGA775/Socket+T,+Intel - no video signal

New build -no video signal

All powers up fine but getting no video output. So can't see what stage the machine is getting to. Unable to proceed. Any help gratefully received.

CPU intel duo core 3.0ghz
Memory geil DDR ram pc2 6400 x 2 1GB
Corsair PSU CX420
ASUS 24x DVD RW drive
Samsung 500gb HD

Check that all connections are in.

I know it may sound strange but try booting without the CMOS battery.

Thank you, tried that still no luck. The machine is now powering on for a bit then shutting down. I have reseated the chip and fan to make sure that's all correct.

Can you try another PSU?
Do you have another board or CPU that are compatible?
At this point it sounds like a bad board but there are still a few possibilities left.

I'm sorry I don't, the PSu is brand new and does run ok. The other board is not compatible with the new CPU

One last thing I can think of is to check the CPU jumpers.
On my newer G41 based board, they should all be set to 1-2 but check the manual.

Hi completely rebuild system, removed some missed jumpers from the case. Changed the CPU jumpers and still nothing :-(

Hi captin Nemo,

Turns out the motherboard was faulty, it had bent pins on the CPU socket - the chip itself was fine.
