i just finished a build and am experiencing some issues

i may have accidentally installed an intel vga driver and it caused my computer to black screen until i solved that issue but my computer is still running at 800 x 600 and in direct x diagnostic tool it says that the main driver is vga

fastest thing

format , install windows again , then install your VGA driver.

make a clean uninstall of the intel driver and install your graphics card driver then in the control panel of the GPU, you can change the resolution.

OR

reinstall windows, install GPU driver, then go to GPU control panel and change the resolution. that's it :)

hmmmmm it turns out i was mistaken and it was the intel drivers that were causing the black screens.....

i plan on buying a graphics card in a month but i was hoping i could use the intel hd 4000 graphics to hold me off until then

there have been a lot of problems with the newest driver so i downloaded an older driver and got the same black screen

go to the bios and select the integrated GPU instead of the PCIe lane

find the section where you will select the graphics card to be used. the options would be like "intel integrated graphics", "PCIe x16 lane" or something like that. select the intel integrated graphics. I'm assuming that you have the intel HD graphics driver installed and up to date.

you're saying that the driver is in fact working but my computer isn't set to integrated graphics so the display is blacking out, right?

yes that's what I mean. don't go and buy another GPU, try to troubleshoot more. have you tried reseatting all of the components?
