I have seen many posts about this problem, but have yet to find a solution, I don't wan't to disable this error, I would like to fix the problem, if possible.

So far I have only ever received this error on Alt-Tabbing out of a game, (Saints Row: The Third, Civilization V) I usually play my games on High graphics settings.

I am running a GTX-580 and an i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz 3.70GHz with 8 gig of RAM and believe that I should not be having this problem.

I ran GPU-Z while playing Civilization V and Alt-Tabbed out about 10 minutes into playing and received the error.

Here are the GPU-Z results at the time of the error.

It seems that my VRAM is nearly 100% used, does this mean there is something wrong with my GPU? I am not overclocking so I am very confused.

thanks,

curious. not sure what's happening there. Civ V doesn't do that to me, and i'm running a far inferior system with a 1gb gddr5 7770GE settup at highest graphic settings at 1080p. It might be a problem with the newest nvidia drivers. if this is a new problem i'd roll the drivers back a generation or 3 and see if the problem goes away.

I will give it a try, Is it normal for my VRAM to be at nearly 100% or is that definitely a problem?

yeah.. .i think that's probably a problem caused by your drivers... cause my 7770ge at 1080p doesn't come close to 1gb (100%) vram utilization in civ 5

2 different video cards. some applications will use more ram because more is available. W7 is the same way.

choose best performance. you can always change it later. Aero will cut into your system resources terrible.

start/right click computer/properties/advanced settings/performance.

After using a previous driver I am still using the same amount of VRAM, and I am still getting the error message.
