Dont know which slot is for my GPU..

hey everyone, i bought a new cpu a week back and i have no idea where i should install my Sapphire hd 7950 3gb, and which 2 cables i should install in my gpu from my psu
i think 2 cables might be the ones with names PCI-E on it, do i have to install these 2 cables of the same name and type


if the cable from psu is PCI-E, can these be from one wire or another wire

there are 3 ports as you all can see, blue one under gigabyte name, small white one under cmos battery or the last one under name PCI Express 3.0

the top pci-e slot is where you place your gpu, the blue one under gigabyte as you said.
seeing how that's ur only pci-e slot at 16x, you will have to place ur gpu there.

Iam not sure how many power pins you need for that 7950 model, but the cables you are looking for are these: http://www.overclock3d.net/gfx/articles/2008/04/14224636631l.jpg
and you want to connect them to these ports on ur gpu:

pretty sure yours will require 2x6pin connectors.

does these 2 wires are different, i mean come out from psu separately or these are the same wire and i can connect them from one end only(one wire has 3 ports to connect)

i didnt understand what you asked, sorry.

you need 2 six pin pci-e power connectors, http://techreport.com/r.x/psus-0907/pcie-connectors.jpg , like the two in that pic, without the 2 pin extension on the right there.
they should both come from ur psu obviously, they can be in seperate cables.
dont confuse them with cpu power connectors,http://www.pcmech.com/forum/attachments/computer-hardware/6484d1166292597-4-pin-cpu-power-cable-being-stretched-4-pin-12v-extension-pc-power-cable.jpg,
this one, which has 4 pins. dont use those.

but i want to know that, will there be 2 wires coming out of the psu or i can use 2 switches from the same cable
my psu has 3 ports from one cable, so can i use 2 ports of that one wire or use 2 separate wires

i know im irritating but i really dont wanna mess my new cpu with bad wiring, so please help me

lol no problem, you could use 2 from the same cable, as long as you fill all the "holes" then its gonna work =P

and you cant mess it up, no worries, even if u plug in the wrong cables\ not plug in anything.
