I recently built a new machine utilizing an Intel i7-4770, 16 GB of DDR3, an MSI B85-G41, an SSD, a 1TB hard drive, an nVidia 570 GTX, and a Cooler Master GX 650W power supply.

I had no issues for approximately a week. About a week and a half ago, while alt-tabbing between a full screen application and my desk top, I lost video signal and was forced to power the machine off and back on. When I powered it back on, the power supply fan spun up, as did all fans connected directly to the power supply. Fans connected directly to the board didn't spin up, including the CPU fan. My SATA DVD ROM was initialized as normal. I got no video signal, and this case doesn't have a PC Speaker so I can't hear beep codes.

I took the machine and re-seated the RAM and it booted back up. It gave no trouble until yesterday.

I tried to power it on and ran into the same thing - Motherboard attached fans don't spin up, other fans do, no CPU fan activity, no video, DVD ROM being tested as I would expect. I re-seated the RAM again and it booted once more without issue. I used it for about 8 hours without issue, and powered it down with the intent of running another pass of memtest while I slept. It failed again in the exact same way, and I didn't have time to re-seat RAM again and play with it as I had to sleep for work.

The case is a CoolerMaster HAF 912. I saw mention of a PC Speaker in it in reviews on the web but I can't find it or its connection for the life of me. Does anyone have any suggestions for definitively determining if it's the RAM or the board or the processor? I somewhat doubt that it's the video card or the power supply given the symptoms.

It sounds to me like its your motherboard is defective personally. It can't be the PSU because they are usually giving or not giving power and it gives power. The GPU seems fine, if it had been the issue reseating the RAM the first would have done nothing. Your SSD, HDD, and DVD drives all seem fine. That leaves Motherboard, RAM, and CPU. The CPU could be it, since it controls so much of the function of those parts, but I just have a feeling that its not. It shouldn't be the RAM, because the RAM doesn't explain the fans not spinning the second time. I could be wrong, but I just think it is probably your motherboard. If you have any way to test the CPU in another system you should, or if not try updating your Motherboard BIOS and see if...

If it doesn't you will probably have to return the Motherboard for a different one, and if it still has issues you will have to return the CPU since it would be the only part left it could be really.
Good luck.
