I just finished building my PC. I have an Radeon HD 7970. I am at the stage where I install drivers. One problem, as I was trying to install the Catalyst suite I got a error saying "failed to load detection driver". I have no idea why. Anyone know how to fix this?

Solution
When you go to install you uncheck the the control center stuff. But I suppose I'm wrong on that. The reason they said that is to cover their butts, it's safe to do you just have to follow directions supplied by the manufacturer very closely.

I've been googling around for people with similar problems with you have finding very little to help. One thing I found that you could try is downloading .net 4

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851

and it's probably a good idea to do windows update if you've just installed windows.

I also found out that i trying to install the driver in safe mode is pretty much known to not work. But you could try low res mode (F8 on start up and then select that mode). Also if you...

Oh okay. You've confused me. I thought you've meant that they are several drivers. Thanks for your help!

To help me better understand you problem, what graphics card did you have before?

You could try installing them through windows. Regardless if it's successful or not it will send the extracted file to C:\amd\support\<driver revision>

Since you have no driver, A dialog box should automatically pop up
asking for drivers. Point the dialog box to the folder where the driver
files were previously extracted.

Yes I've downloaded that suite. You said that I was able to download just the drivers not the entire suite? How do I do that? And my chipset driver is straight from my mo/bo manufacturer's website. My BIOS is not up to date since I was informed not to update the bios unless their was a problem with it.

Click on the “Start” button, type “device manager” in the search field and click “device manager” from the search results
Expand “Display Adapters”, right-click on the AMD Radeon™ entry and then select “Update Driver Software"
Select the “Browse my computer for driver software” option.
Click “Browse” and navigate to C:\AMD\Support\[Catalyst™ version]\ and click “OK”. Note: This folder is usually extracted by default to C:\AMD\Support in the initial running of the AMD Catalyst™ software suite
Click on “Next” to install the driver software and restart the computer after completing the driver software update

I've went around and did some research and I've found that low res mode is the way to go, just like you did. The only problem with that is that the install manager is too large for the display. So I am unable to click next. Do you know of a way to fix this? And also under my display adapters I've only found a standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Its like it does not even recognize my card. Maybe that is the problem?

GOD DAMMIT! It opens the same Catalyst installer. My RES is too small for it. I can't click next. BTW am I only suppose to have one res? (640x480)
