Looking for a game to play co-op/without others

Basically I want a game that isn't too big to download because my friend has a slow internet, and also I want it to be a bit like Minecraft or terraria where you can just run a server on your computer and play on it, it doesn't have to be co op or anything, as long as there isn't other people. (and obviously I don't want terraria or minecraft as we already played them and kinda got bored.)

Counter Strike / Team Fortress 2 and run your own bot-server? Then you can choose to be co-op or against each other.

Lotsa bots take a good CPU (my linux CS:GO / TF2 server runs 24), but you can run a server and play on the same machine if it's just for fun and the number of free map downloads to keep it interesting is huge. If your friend has slow internet but is close to you, copy your game folder from steamapps to his and when he buys the game it will find it. TF2 is even free ;o)
