Looking to store my 16Tb movie collection in 4 external HDD. HDD will be use only for movie.
My options are:
- LaCie Porsche Design
- WD My book
- Seagate Expansion
- Seagate Back Up Plus
(All 4To)
Running Windows 7 64bit
Which one i should choose and why ?

Solution
I'd go with the Seagate Backup Plus because of
A. The price ($170)
B. Comes with software that does automatic Backups

If you dont need automatic backups, go with the cheapest (Seagate Expansion)

FireWire2

Any of the above will do the job.
Keep in mind no matter what you do, HDD will failed eventually.
So for safe keeping you should have 2 set of USB HDD. This is good but a bit of inconvenient, cuz you have a 4x set of library and need to swap out when needed.

Or in my usage i have a RAID5 driver-less - a combine of 5x drives 2TB, that hot plug into ANY Windows's eSATA/USB3.0/2.0 port to see my libray.

Of course this is not a perfect solution, a back up still needed, but certainly help my to keep my media file, in an event a HDD fail.

Cheap computer case - you can pick up at local store for less than $20.00
Add a driver-less hardware RAID card eSATA/USB
Install 5x 4TB drives - the RAID support 48bit LBA, that means it can go up to 64TB per port
Within minute you will have 16TB - high availability

Im a noob with cpu things... What is a back up exactly? It back up inside the cpu or in the external hdd ? If it back up inside cpu, it takes howmutch space on the cpu to back up 4tb external hdd ? Can i buy a 5th external hdd just to back up the 4 HDD loaded with movie ? If a HDD die, is it still possible to recover information ?

Thank you for help
