2 7870s in CFX vs a single 7970?

Hello,
I am building a new rig and I am wondering which of these I should go for.
2 7870s (GHz edition) cost almost the same as a single 7970. I will be using the rig for editing, programming, and 3d modeling. And so it will be a triple monitor setup. I have heard that CFX increases performance across multiple monitors(vs a more expensive higher end card) though I am not sure of this.

Thoughts and Suggestions are welcome!

I have CF 7870 and it has worked very well for me. There aren't too many benchmarks around for it though. I have no idea how well CF performs in 3d modeling programs so I can't say. For gaming I definitely recommend it. In games that use CF well 7870 CF easily beats a single 7970. I've ran benchmarks with mine and have seen anywhere from 33% to a 105% increase in performance vs a single card.
