Hi There,

Thanks for viewing this post.

I am using a Acer Aspire 5332 and it comes with Windows 7 pre-installed but since the laptop has only 1GB ram, I am not happy with how slow windows 7 is on this machine. Therefore I have bought a Windows XP disk.

I have tried to install Windows XP before but once I got on it there was no drivers present and I could not do anything as my internet router does not support Ethernet connection so having the wifi driver after install is crucial. Also the next thing is I am scared to lose Windows 7 after installing XP, so what I did was I half the HDD size and left Windows 7 there in case of any errors on Windows XP install but since I did encounter that there was no drivers after I installed Windows XP I have messed up the Windows 7 boot but I was lucky enough for a mate to have a Windows 7 disk which helped me boot back into Windows 7.

So my question is how can I install Windows XP (keeping Windows 7 in case of errors) and have the drivers for my Acer Aspire 5332 laptop after installing?

Also, if Windows XP successfully installs, I would want to delete Windows 7 after.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

after you install win XP just go to your manufacturer site and search for your drivers and download and install them. drivers are always hosted for free by the manufacturer of a prebuilt machine. {IE} got to acer site and search your model number and look for drivers.

before installing windows, download all the drivers here:http://www.acer.ca/ac/en/CA/content/drivers then do a fresh install of xp. make sure you download the xp drivers. after you install xp, install the drivers (hopefully from a usb flash drive) and your set.

why dont you add some ram to the laptop.win7 will run better than xp with 2gigs.unless you are totally in love with xp this isnt going to be a satisfying experience for you, trust me.if you really think you have to do this.create a partition for xp,i believe there is a option for this on install.if not use a partitioning tool such as easus partition master and create on that way.install your xp to the partition and you will have a dual boot system with both xp and win7.download your drivers with win7 to a usb stick, reboot to xp and install from the usb. again i cautiion you, this is not a road i would be inclined to go down. Generally that laptop was sold with three gig of ram, so if you didnt buy it new somebody swiped out the 2 gig stick. If you put another gig in it it will run 7 fine. You can get a gig for about $10 . That will give you the option to use 7 as well as xp.

Hi, thanks for the reply. This is what I was trying to do myself before posting on here. I went on the site but it offers only windows 7 and vista drivers for the acre aspire 5332 and so after I installed these did not work and also it's 32 bit windows xp. I am at a dead end like so what do you recommend now?

I have found out that the Acer Aspire 5332 is only Windows 7 and Vista based so there is no official drivers for it. But I have thought about getting more memory, where could I buy this RAM from?

first use a program like siw to find out what ram you have, then start pricing it.me,i usually go to staples or somewhere like that, but im sure you can buy it online cheaper.just not sure where. amazon.newegg. you will be surprised at the performance increase you will see.
