I'm trying to output video to my TV from my computer through HDMI, but nothing comes up. Things I've done to troubleshoot are:

1. HDMI cable works. If I plug it into a computer monitor, its fine.

2. When I change the output resolution to the TV, the TV actually acknowledges the change (in the corner, something will pop up like 720p 60Hz or 1080i 30Hz). But still, nothing displays on the TV. The TV manual says it supports 720p.

3. Switching between extended and clone desktop doesn't solve anything. When doing this, the TV does show up as an available display in Windows.

3b. Also to mention, the desktop is actually being extended because if I move the mouse cursor all the way to the right, when I move it left again, it doesn't immediately appear and requires more movement.

4. In addition to Windows, neither the POST boot nor the manufacture boot logo display on the TV.

If it matters, my graphics card is an Nvidia GTX 460 in Win7 64-bit (both are fully updated). And the TV is a Sharp LC-32D43U. The TV has no problems accepting video from other devices through composite (Nintendo Wii) or VGA (separate laptop and my video card does not have a VGA port so I can't try that). I have no other device other than the desktop to test the HDMI port.

Are you switching the TV source input to HDMI?

Seems obvious but, you never know =)

I did! :-p

And since we're talking about these kind of checks, electric bill has been paid so the TV and computer are turned on!

touche!

Heheh. When connected to the TV via HDMI..... is your PC monitor also connected simultaneously?

I've seen TV's that wont show a POST screen for some reason but receive the Windows OS desktop feed once it arrives(driver maybe?).

I've tried both - PC monitor connected and not connected. No difference.
